Circa 1920-30's Meisen Omeshi Woven Silk Leaf Pattern Blue Purple Iridescent Haori Jacket Kimono
Hand made, hand sewn in Japan.
The material Meisen ikat was a very popular silk flat woven textile in Japan but this textile was hardly produced after WW2 because the machine was discontinued until recently. Meisen fabric is thin and lightweight and has a very distinctive silk texture. This haori's meisen textile was particularly categolised as MEISEN OMESHI which is more luxury and high quality textile as normal Meisen.
The art-deco influenced designed leaf pattern is unique and the colour combinations are very delicate and charming. The small scale checker pattern jacquard (woven pattern) gives this textile iridescent effect of blue and purple (lilac) which makes this haori special.
The lining of the back is vibrant silk stripe tie-dye (shibori) fabric, The linig of sleeves are beautiful silk crimson red fabric which are subtly visible from from the back when worn.
Both sides are seamless, so some kimono lovers enjoy wearing both sides! Wearing inside out is not formal but fun.

Condition:
Very good vintage condition. There are some stains on the lining but it is not noticeable while wearing. Except that, I don't find any other major stains, damages or faults. I try to describe the kimono as accurate as possible.
